4:00 pm: The party leaves Sandpoint, armed with Sheriff Hemlock's letter, to go question Grayst at The Saintly Haven of Respite. The founder of the sanitorium, Erin Habe, meets them at the door and is reluctant to let them in. Using the Sheriff's letter, and some forceful language, the party is let in. Habe insists on accompanying the party while they question Grayst. He brings his two orderlies along as well.
Before the group can really begin questioning Grayst, his eyes bulge when he sees Kaylee and he shouts:
He said. He said you would visit me. His Lordship. The one that unmade me said so.
He has a place for you. A precious place. I’m so jealous.
He has a message for you. He made me remember it. I hope I haven’t forgotten.
The master wouldn’t approve if I forgot. Let me see… let… me… see…
He said that if you came to his Misgivings, that if you joined his pack, he would end his harvest in your honor.
At that point he flies into a rage, his focus being Kaylee. The orderlies promptly escort Erin out of the room and the party quickly subdues Grayst. After Habe returns, he admits that he has known that Grayst is sick, and instead of telling the church, he has held Grayst here, hoping to observe the transformation to undead. Grayst is unable to give any other information. The party decides to bring him back to Sandpoint to see if the clergy can reverse the disease that is gripping the poor man.
The party asks about Sheriff Hemlock and find out he is not in and is "unavailable" at the moment. The party speculates that he is with his (not-so-secret) girlfriend.
They then go to the church and speak with Father Zantus. He agrees to go and look at Grayst and do whatever he can.
The group speaks with Brodert about the seven-pointed star. He confirms that it is called the sihedron rune and it is a symbol used by the Thassilonian rulers a long time ago. Brodert distracts himself with a one-sided discussion about the "Old Light". He has no information about "The Misgivings".
The party goes to the Rusty Dragon for supper and asks Bethana about the Misgivings. She tells them it is a local name for the Foxglove manor to the south. She urges Kaylee not to go, it is a cursed and evil place. She seems very distraught for having brought it up, when the group seems intent on going there. She mentions that there is a groundskeeper that is currently taking care of the place, Rogor Craesby, a resident of Sandpoint.
